Two winter hikes in a lovely park near Woodside. The Lonely Trail The first of the two hikes that I completed was about 9 miles in length. From the Zwierlein Parking area (post 17 on the Huddart Map made by the San Mateo County Parks), I took the Crystal Springs Trail to the Spur Trail and then went uphill on the Richards Road Trail to the Miramontes Trail. This trail is technically closed right now, so I was a bit of a law breaker by going on it! From there, I pealed off on the Mt. Redondo Trail to the Lonely Trail, which I took all the way up to the crest near Skyline Dr. To loop back, I took the Richards Road Trail back down and then connected back to the parking lot via the Campground Trail. I had another route back planned, but the rain started coming down pretty hard, and I really appreciated having the wider trail of the fire roads! I love hiking in the redwoods when there is a light rain. The greens really pop and you get the forest to yourself. The trail is already called the "Lonely Trail," but it was particularly solitary in the rain, and I loved it. Family-Friendly Loop
