Phleger Estate is one of the many campuses that comprise Golden Gate National Recreation Area. It's located in San Mateo County near Huddart County Park. You can access the park from Skyline Drive, but the 7-mile trail that I took is easiest to access from Huddart. This trail is awesome to visit in April! The creeks were full (so I got to see lots of small waterfalls), and the irises were blooming. It was sunny but cool--basically, a perfect hike!

This 7-mile version of the hike that I did late last February did not disappoint! This trip to Henry Coe State Park was during a glorious weekend in April, so my husband and I had to use the overflow parking. The trail from overflow parking to the park headquarters is half a mile, and each way to Frog Lake along the Flat Frog Trail is 3 miles. We just went out to the lake and back to take advantage of the flat hike. The wildflowers were spectacular!
Edgewood County Park is a lovely park off of 280, just a few miles north of Sand Hill Road and a few miles east of the Crystal Springs Reservoir. I have been before in the fall and in the winter, and I have to say that spring takes the cake, mostly because there are so many wonderful types of wildflowers to see! The 3.5-mile hike that I took wound its way from Edgewood Trail to the Franciscan Trail. Then I took the Live Oak Trail to the Serpentine, and completed the loop with the Sylvan Trail. .
I have written about the 8.8-mile Brooks Creek Loop before. The first time I took this hike it was winter, and this time I came back in the spring. It was a totally different experience. Whereas before I was impressed with the waterfalls at the fern grotto and the intense pops of green, this time I was blown away by all the wildflowers. I took the loop clockwise this trip (the map is on the link to the last hike). I think that it was a good call for this clear day. I included the little jag to see the look-out spot, and I was rewarded with gorgeous views of the ocean from up along the ridge. There is a nice bench too at this spot (pictured above), so bring a picnic!
Half Moon Bay State Beach is a series of four beaches (1. Roosevelt, 2. Dunes, 3. Venice, and 4. Francis) that have been collected into one state park that stretches about four miles along the shore in the town of Half Moon Bay. The Coastside Trail connects all the beaches and even extends beyond the borders of the park as far north as Pillar Point and as far south as Poplar and Redondo Beaches. The trail is easy and flat. It sometimes follows right along the cliffs and sometimes pulls further inland, but it is often even paved to be accessible for all people. There is a campground too, if you would like to trying camping right along the beach!
