Today, my daughter and I went for a short hike through Anthony Chabot and Reinhardt Redwood Regional Park. I think that we probably only hiked for one mile, in an in-and-out hike, but I saw a way to extend this nice hike for a longer loop. The Golden Spike Trail in Reinhardt Regional Park was especially pleasant, and it was fun for me to visit this part of the park for the first time.

This past Saturday, my daughter and I made our maiden voyage to Roy's Redwood Preserve in Marin County. We took a 2.3-mile loop through the park through a variety of ecosystems.
On Saturday I took my young daughter on a very short hike from the Macdonald Gate, but I was itching for more. So on Sunday I returned to that staging area in Anthony Chabot for a much more ambitious solo hike. This ~9-mile lollipop hike went along the ridge top and then descended into Grass Valley for a nice loop. I really liked the variety on this hike!
Today I took a rejuvenating morning hike at Reinhardt Redwood Regional Park. I took a loop that was new to me, the 5.7-mile loop (with about 600' elevation gain) of East Ridge and Stream Trails. This loop combined a chaparral landscape along the ridge top with a riparian redwood forest in the valley below. And I was treated to a display of ladybugs!
On our recent camping trip to Hendy Woods State Park, my family and I wrapped up our trip by taking a short 0.6-mile walk through the small grove of the impressive old-growth redwoods called Big Hendy. This was a return visit for me, and a first for both my husband and my daughter.
This easy 0.5 mile hike from Wildcat Campground through the Little Hendy Grove at Hendy Woods State Park was a big hit with my little hiker!
This post features a campground instead of a hike. We went to Hendy Woods to go tent camping with my three-year old daughter for the first time ever! It was great to be camping here again, where I went with my mother back in 2016.
We made a return trip to Cable Car Beach at Henry Cowell Redwoods State Park on Monday this week after having such an amazing trip last week.
This lovely 5-mile loop links two areas of Tilden Park that I had previously only visited separately: the area around Lake Anza and the Nature Area. It was fun to take the Wildcat Gorge as a connector between these areas of Tilden.
My daughter and I had an amazing time at Cable Car Beach today at Henry Cowell Redwoods State Park. This is a fantastic hike for people with young children. Click "read more" to see more photos, a map, and a write-up of this easy 2-mile loop.
