Today, my daughter and I went for a short hike through Anthony Chabot and Reinhardt Redwood Regional Park. I think that we probably only hiked for one mile, in an in-and-out hike, but I saw a way to extend this nice hike for a longer loop. The Golden Spike Trail in Reinhardt Regional Park was especially pleasant, and it was fun for me to visit this part of the park for the first time.

This past Saturday, my daughter and I made our maiden voyage to Roy's Redwood Preserve in Marin County. We took a 2.3-mile loop through the park through a variety of ecosystems.
This lovely 5-mile loop links two areas of Tilden Park that I had previously only visited separately: the area around Lake Anza and the Nature Area. It was fun to take the Wildcat Gorge as a connector between these areas of Tilden.
My daughter and I had an amazing time at Cable Car Beach today at Henry Cowell Redwoods State Park. This is a fantastic hike for people with young children. Click "read more" to see more photos, a map, and a write-up of this easy 2-mile loop.
I took a super enjoyable 7.9-mile loop through Windy Hill Preserve today. It was a glorious hike through a beautiful variety of forests and landscapes. It's made me wish I had explored deeper into this park before I moved away from the peninsula!
Today on a longer solo hike, I made the 9-mile loop around Lake Chabot. This was an extension of the short hike that I took last summer with my young daughter. I am so glad to have finally completed this longer loop, and I have more ideas for another hike when I can make a return visit.
Today, I took a lovely solo hike to Tilden Park, and I finally made the loop to Wildcat Peak that I have been wanting to do for about two years now. Click read more to see maps and trail descriptions for this beautifully varied 4.75-mile loop.
Today was an absolutely gorgeous day. My daughter and I decided to celebrate the cooler weather by going to a park that is new to us: Kennedy Grove Regional Recreation Area. We took a loop trail of a little more than 2.25 miles. It was such a nice outing! A really great option for families with young children.
As a treat to myself this weekend (ahead of Mother's Day), I decided to take a nice hike on a loop that winds in between Morgan Territory and Mount Diablo State Park. I loved this 8-mile route, and plan to do a variation of it again next spring! Click "read more" to see my loop and more photos.
Although all of the Marin County Parks are currently closed due to the shelter-in-place ordinances issued by the county of Marin, I got a chance to visit this lovely park on Sunday before the closure. I am glad that I got to go. I loved it, and it did so much to lighten my spirits during this frightening pandemic. Cascade Canyon Open Space Park is a wonderful park, and I hope to bring my family back here after the COVID-19 pandemic is under control. I will be looking over these pictures and dreaming of getting out to hike if more parks start to close. Perhaps the photos on this blog will bring some comfort to you too.
