The shelter-in-place ordinances in both the Bay Area counties and, now, in the whole state of California have been a major adjustment. I am *so* grateful that hiking and walking is compatible with social distancing as we all do our part to flatten the curve, so that we can keep our hospitals from being overwhelmed. Because we have been having intermittent rain showers in the Bay, it's been a little hard to get out, even though we all need to walk in the sunshine more than ever. So when the rain cleared up this weekend for a few hours, we headed over to the Arroyo Mocho Trail, to a segment of it that is in our neighborhood.
We took the route in yellow on the map this time, and it was so lovely. Indeed, it's made me want to walk the whole route when we can, although it is about 5 miles total in length in one direction; so, perhaps a bike would be a better option. I think, when the library opens again, that it would be fun to ride our bikes to and from the library along this paved trail, especially if my husband opts for one of those pull-along carts for his bike. This flat, wide, paved trail is great for children and for social distancing. It's another reason that I am grateful to live in Livermore. March visit: Return visit in early May: The joy of this particular trip was visiting the chicken coop maintained by one of our neighbors and meeting an extremely friendly neighborhood cat. The cat is clearly someone's pet because she has a collar. My daughter named her "Daisy" because she looks like the character Daisy in the children's book series Biscuit, by Alyssa Satin Capucilli.
