Old Woman's Creek Road at Año Nuevo State Park

Old Woman's Creek Road is a service road and trail in an under-used part of Año Nuevo State Park. The road follows along the creek but climbs uphill at a fairly steep rate for about 2 miles. You will go through several types of forest: alders when you are down closer to the waters edge, and redwoods as you ascend. There is one truly magnificent redwood about a mile in that looks like it might be an old growth redwood. The trail is nicely variegated between sunny and shaded, and you are unlikely to see anyone else on the trail with you.

The trailhead is located at the junction of Gazos Creek Road and Cloverdale Road. There is free off-road parking on both side of the street, but really only for one or two cars on either side.  After you are done hiking, you can check out the Gazos Creek Day Use Area!

The old growth redwood you mention is truly worth a visit. Its has a massive base with at least three vigorous trunks, each good size trees in their own right, with a giant outstretched arm of a limb that at its end has a youngish redwood growing straight up at the end, Deeply fire scarred, it was at the edge of the 2020 CZU fire and survived, just as it has countless times before. So close to the ocean it's been windpruned numerous times as well, and keeps on growing.
