Today we explored another new-to-us beach at the Half Moon Bay State Beaches: Roosevelt Beach.

Earlier this year, all of the state parks temporarily closed due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Although there are still a lot of (necessary!) precautions in place, we are making good use of the slow relaxation the social distancing guidelines. We've been making up for the time that lost when we could not use our state park pass by going to the beach as much as possible, especially midweek when it's not nearly as crowded. My daughter is loving it, and she's becoming a real beach baby! It's really wonderful to see.
Roosevelt Beach, like Dunes Beach, is accessible off of Young Avenue between El Granada and downtown Half Moon Bay. Although there are less amenities than at Venice Beach (which has an outdoor shower) there are at least some flush bathrooms (unlike Dunes Beach, which has only port-o-potties right now). We really liked this beach. There is a large sand dune that my daughter liked to climb up to then run down. She did this over and over again, which made nap time very easy.

We are already planning our next trip, which will be for her third birthday next week. I plan to go to Redondo Beach and then to explore the adjacent Wavecrest Open Space (links here and here). We are already looking forward to more exploring at this fantastic state park.

Repeat visit for birthday fun
