Sycamore Grove Park in Livermore

Today my daughter and I explored Livermore's Sycamore Grove Park for the first time. We hiked one mile (round trip) going from the parking lot of the Wetmore Entrance to the "Hobbit Tree" and then back again. Along the way, we went through a lovely grove of Western Sycamores (apparently one of the largest remaining stands of western sycamore riparian woodland), and then we played in a seasonal creek running through the Arroyo del Valle!

The path that we took today--the Arroyo del Valle Regional Trail--is a paved path the entire way (2.5 miles, so a 5-mile round trip if you do the whole thing). It was very popular for dog walkers, runners, bikes, and other parents pushing strollers. While we were enjoying wading, we also watched equestrians crossing their horses at the creek!

The park has a lot more to offer than the paved trail (there are 15 miles of trails). I am considering buying an annual pass to this park because I can really envision coming back to try out some of the other trails that would be less accommodating to a toddler in a stroller.

Thank you for sharing your delightful experience at Sycamore Grove Park. Your vivid descriptions of the Western Sycamore groves and the seasonal creek, along with the family-friendly trails, have inspired me to plan a visit with my own family. It's wonderful to know that the park offers such accessible and enjoyable natural beauty.
