Sycamore Valley Park

Yesterday, my family and I made a little jaunt over to Sycamore Valley Park in Danville. I'd been to this park before to hike through the open space part of the park. On our trip this weekend, we just enjoyed a picnic at this very nice city park. I like that this park has the one-two combo of city park and open space park: there is something for everyone!

Although the play structure is closed still (because of COVID), it looks super nice and I have no doubt that we will be back here one day when it's safe for my daughter to play with other kids again. But there was lots of wide open lawn with lush grass for a picnic, with lots of room to spread out under the shade of the sycamores on blankets. There was a gentle hill that she enjoyed rolling down, and then we explored around the man-made lake. I do not think that this is the "water feature" that the park website boasts, but we stuck our toes in nonetheless. It was a great way to beat the heat during a warm day during this Indian Summer.

I think that this would be a great place for a family to go if some people wanted to go on a short hike while others stayed back to play in the city park. It would allow for a divide-and-conquer trip so that everyone could do what they wanted to do. Definitely a great option for families.
